Thanks to Jeron for recommending this really fun music video by the french band Hold Your Horses. The video is a great sequence of painted masterpieces recreated live by the band members. How many do you recognize?
DaVinci, Last Supper.
Botticelli, The Birth of Venus.
Rembradnt, The Anatomy Lesson
Vermeer, Girl with a Pearl Earring
Gericault, Raft of the Medusa
David, The Death of Marat
Michaelangelo, Creation of Adam
Magritte, The Son of Man
Mondrian, (…hell if I know which piece!)
Khalo, (Some Sel Portrait)
….uncertain!…
Munch, The Scream
Van Gogh, Self Portrait (not sure if its referencing a specific one)
Warhol, Marilyn Monroe
…two I’m unsure of…
Caravaggio, Beheading of St John the Baptist
Manet, Olympia
Delacroix, Liberty Leading the People…
Dix, (I have no idea what the name of that piece is)
Klimt, The Kiss
Chagall, (I’m not sure of the paintings title)
Velazquez, Las Meninas
Van Gogh, Sunflowers
If you can figure out what I’m missing, that’d be great. One of the images is entirely too familiar but I cannot come up with the name of the painter or the piece to save my life. One of them, the one with the red curtain, I don’t recognize at all. There is also one of the portraits that eludes me entirely. This may antagonize me until it’s settled, so help.
