JukeboxCriminal tipped us on this cool animated short called “The Astronomer’s Dream” by animator Malcolm Sutherland. We really enjoyed the visual style, the quirky characters & creative environments.

I AM NOT AN ARTIST

I AM NOT AN ARTIST is a cute collection of self-deprecating animations brought to you by designers who need some sunlight and night-night therapy.

I wonder if they took the laptops outside to make this video.

Rock Show: Gig Posters on the iPad

Rock Show

Strawberryluna let us know about this new app for something called an ‘iPad’… apparently its a big iPod that was released today. If you’ve heard of it, you might want to check out the app called Rock Show. It’s a free download and it seems like a pretty great idea. The app allows you to browse and purchase gig posters by a growing selection of artists. Other poster artists might want to get in on this! In a semi-related note, there’s also this bit of awesomeness.

Roger Ballen: Lens Culture Conversation

When we started this site we weren’t sure how much photography or sculpture we’d cover, but it seems like we constantly find inspirational works in these mediums. Enter Roger Ballen, an American-born photographer out of South Africa who’s dark imagery is intriguing and ambiguous, but never grotesque. You may have seen some of his older images and not been aware. On his website, you can view a great deal of his work under the ‘image galleries’ section. The above video features the artist talking at length about his process while displaying several examples. Enjoy!
