Shepard Fairey has produced another portrait print based on a new canvas painting. This time we are treated to more musical icons, John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Ferg’s Playge line of vinyl figures is set to release its next piece entitled “Playge Rat (Playge Version)” on Monday, August 23rd at 12:00 noon, CST. The toy comes with a shotgun, a belt of ammunition, and a knife (see below) and features the Playge green and black colorscheme, not to mention a fully tailored outfit. Featuring James Franco as Allen Ginsberg, Jeff Daniels, & Jon Hamm, Howl the movie is set to show in theaters September 24th.
I recommend you read Howl and listen to Allen Ginsberg himself read it, both of which can be done from The Academy of American Poets website. Disclaimer: the audio version may be inappropriate for work, as the piece includes some foul language.

Shepard Fairey’s latest portrait is one of his best to date, and it also breaks from the normal form factor that Fairey works in. This portrait is printed on the same 18″x24″ stock that obey prints normally come on, but the image size does not fill the sheet, as to preserve the composition of Fariey’s painting based on the photograph by Sid Grossman.
This print is an edition of 450, signed and numbered, at a price of $65, limit 1 per person. The print will go online at a random time on Thursday, August 19th at Obey Giant.
