Vannen Artist Watches have always been fairly petite, but their new product line called Vannen XL promises to take their watches to the next level for larger wrists or “showier spirits”. The first watch in the Vannen XL line is designed by Huck Gee, and features a really clean skull and crossbones illustration. We hope to see some side-by-side comparisons of the new XL size vs. the standard size, and we’ll post those if they are published when this watch is made available tomorrow. The watch is limited to only 150 pieces and comes with custom slip cover packaging which is signed and numbered by the artist. This timepiece costs only $85 and looks like a great gift for the coming holiday season. Check out VannenWatches.com to buy it on Saturday, Nov 20th. More images below. (more…)

Gehard Demetz is an Italian sculptor working in wood, with a style similar to the previously spotlighted Willy Verginer (also from Italy) but with a much more smooth, silky and refined finish to his work.
Demetz carves his works out of blocks of wood built from smaller pieces. These smaller pieces are glued together leaving rectangular gaps between random pieces, which, after the sculpture is cut from the block, makes them to appear almost as if they have digital artifacts distorting their appearance. A closeup of this block is included below for a better illustration of this technique.
More photos below and a great portfolio of work at the artist’s website. (more…)

Two of the best poster artists working today, with two VERY different techniques have teamed up once again to create an astonishing art print that is currently in progress at Ryan’s The Bird Machine print shop near Chicago, IL. Jay is documenting the whole process with commentary at GigPosters.com but we are going to include a gallery of his process photos below. The gallery will be updated until the print is completed, with release information to follow.
For a refresher, check out their last collaborative print from April, 2010.
This is a very valuable process documentation for anyone interested in illustration and serigraphy. Check out some truly masterful rubylith work below.
The print is now complete clocking in at 13 colors. The final prints will be trimmed to 19″ x 25.25″ and will be made available on The Bird Machine soon. Release information will come in a separate post. The final images have been added to the gallery below, including a closeup of the tribute to the memory of Seth the greyhound, Jay Ryan’s dog who passed away during the making of this print.
The print is now available for purchase. Edition of 280, signed for $120 / limit of two per customer. Buy it now at The Bird Machine (more…)

One of my favorites Josh Keyes has a new giclee coming out on Friday November 5th through David B. Smith Gallery. “Ambush” is being released to commemorate Keyes’ new show “Collision” at the Denver, CO gallery, which opens the same day at 7pm. There isn’t any information on edition or pricing yet but keep yours eyes on the gallery’s website to snag one. Full image below.
Update! Another print seems to be in the works for the opening of “Collision”. “Sowers” is a 16″x48″ signed and numbered giclee in an edition of 350. One would assume it would be released around the same time as Ambush. Image below. (more…)
