Matthew Curry

Matthew Curry

Matthew Curry is a DC-based, Grammy nominated designer / illustrator / painter who we’ve been following for quite some time now. His paintings, while chaotic, are able to pull your eye to key elements and avoid leaving you feeling overwhelmed when looking at them. The earthy works seem to be graffiti-inspired with an Asian influence, often depicting dragons and scaly patterns.  We’ll get to the bottom of this in our upcoming interview with Matthew. Until then, enjoy his work at his Website, and check out iPhone shots of his most recent work (and cute dog) at his Flickr.

More images after the break.

Matthew is near the end of the following video speaking briefly about his work in front of a very interesting installation. Enjoy!

  1. I really like the layering of paint and imagery. It gives you a lot to look at but at the same time doesn’t feel cluttered. I think picture 1 and 4 are my favorites. A lot of nice background action with a clear focal point in the foreground.
