Matthew Curry is a DC-based, Grammy nominated designer / illustrator / painter who we’ve been following for quite some time now. His paintings, while chaotic, are able to pull your eye to key elements and avoid leaving you feeling overwhelmed when looking at them. The earthy works seem to be graffiti-inspired with an Asian influence, often depicting dragons and scaly patterns. We’ll get to the bottom of this in our upcoming interview with Matthew. I really like the layering of paint and imagery. It gives you a lot to look at but at the same time doesn’t feel cluttered. I think picture 1 and 4 are my favorites. A lot of nice background action with a clear focal point in the foreground.
